About Flag Shop
The Flag Shop is a Canadian chain of stores running from coast to coast, with the first store and head office in Vancouver, British Columbia. It touts itself on its website as a “one-stop shop” for all manner of flags, flagpoles, flag-related hardware and patriotic items. The shops sell custom flags and banners, sports flags, toothpick flags, novelty flags, racing flags, tablecloths, tents, canopies, decals, pins, crests and much more. Its clients include government agencies, sports teams and tourism organizations (its first customer was the Chinese consulate!). In Vancouver, customers include the aquarium, Langara College, VanDusen Botanical Garden and the Museum of Vancouver.
Customers can stop by a retail location, meet with sales representatives in person, speak to them on the phone or upload their project files online and send them to one of the 12 locations. The Flag Shop uses Echotex®, a 100 percent recycled fabric, to make flags and banners, and is the only company in Canada to do so.
It also has an online shop with categories such as “Flags of Canada,” “Flags of the USA,” “UK Flags,” “Anti-Bullying Products,” “Feather Flags” and “Lanyards.” Shipping is worldwide, and delivery to U.S. customers takes about two to four weeks.
The Flag Shop has a sister company, Textile Image Inc, and Susan Braverman is the president of both businesses. Together, the companies produce and sell a wide variety of items for events and trade shows.

History
Doreen Braverman, mother of Susan Braverman, founded The Flag Shop in 1975 when she took over a company called Vancouver Regalia. Susan was five or six when she started working in the store and enjoyed sales and interacting with customers. As an adult, she took some time out to pursue a teaching degree but found her way back to The Flag Shop in 2006. She now owns it, having purchased it from her mother. At the time of Susan Braverman’s return, the business dealt mostly in flags and banners and was starting to struggle. Susan was able to expand its prospects and transform it into a company that produced logos on canopies, tablecloths and much more.
In 1995, The Flag Shop started franchising via a flag store in Victoria. Over the years, this location has undergone changes in ownership, even becoming independent again at one point before returning as a franchise in 2013.
