History
Conrad Hilton opened his first hotel in Texas in 1925. His founding principles included providing a clean place for people to stay supported by excellent customer service. Since then Hilton has grown into one of the world’s largest hotel conglomerates with the Hilton Brand leading the way.
In 1943, Hilton purchased two hotels making it the first national hotel chain with hotels on both coasts. The purchases included The Plaza and Roosevelt hotels in New York City.
Conrad’s innovation led to the Roosevelt hotel becoming the first to include televisions in the guest room. He then opened the Caribe Hilton in Puerto Rico where the Pina Colada is said to have been created by the world-renown Ramon “Monchito” Marrero.
For the next 70 years, Hilton has continued to expand and innovate, increasing its Hilton brand to over 550 hotels. All of which maintain the original founding core qualities of Conrad’s. Conrad Hilton has been recognized for his accomplishments being the first hotelier to appear in Time magazine in 1949 and again in 1963.
Ideal Candidate
Excellent candidates for a Hilton franchise would be those with sales, hospitality, food and beverage and customer service experience. People who contain the ability to analyze reports, numbers, pricing and the local hotel markets have greater potential to succeed as an owner.
The appropriate candidate should have a passion for managing a hotel at a high degree of quality, to efficiently perform customer service, to exemplify leadership and to motivate, train and mentor staff.
The right candidate will be proud to own a Hilton and will work hard to surpass franchise requirements. Franchise owners who have an experienced management team will find owning and operating this franchise enjoyable. Hilton’s extensive support systems and personnel provide every level of assistance and advisory support owners need.
