About Real Estate One
Real Estate One is based in Michigan. It is part of a family of companies that offers general real estate services for homebuyers and sellers in addition to corporate and business relocation services, property management, title insurance and a few other related services. It has franchises in locations such as Algonac, Caro, Fenton, Grand Rapids, Holt, Howell, Lewiston and Richmond. It is a member of LeadingRE, a community of more than 565 brokerages in more than 70 countries.
The company is the largest real estate broker in Michigan and one of the largest in the nation. The Detroit Free Press consistently recognizes it as one of the top 100 workplaces in the state. In 2018, the newspaper listed Real Estate One as having 2,503 employees.
Why Choose Real Estate One?
Real Estate One has been around since 1929, and as the company explains online, it’s seen all types of market conditions, not just surviving them but prospering in them. Thanks to its constant work in marketing, education and management, Real Estate One has shown that it is resilient and knows its stuff. That can be reassuring to potential franchisors leery about how a parent company handles economic and market fluctuations.
Going further than that, Real Estate One is the top broker in Michigan. It invests millions every year in technology, uses the Real Estate One Academy to further careers and taps into the marketing prowess of LeadingRE. It sets its franchise fees on an individual basis, taking into account factors such as community size, community dynamics and office structure. So, the company is flexible and doesn’t automatically disqualify any potential candidate. Just as importantly, Real Estate One works with possible franchise owners to find good territories that maximize the potential of success right from the beginning.
Training & Support
Sales training and educational programs are available through Real Estate One Academy.
History
In 1929, Staunton Elsea founded the Elsea Realty and Investment Company in Detroit. It grew into Real Estate One 40 years later after Dick Elsea, Staunton’s son, merged the company with three others in the area. Now it is Dick’s sons, Stuart and Dan, who lead the company as well as the other companies in the family such as The Charles Reinhart Company. Also in 1929, the Real Estate One Academy was founded to help aspiring and current real estate agents. It offers a variety of classes for both new and experienced associates.
Real Estate One attributes its success to quality service, long-term planning and creative thinking. Its website says that the company operates by core values such as empowerment, teamwork and integrity. According to the company, its website nets almost 2 million unique visitors yearly. The franchise division has operated for more than 35 years, working with associates and giving them the ability to use Real Estate One trademarks and services.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate would be someone who owns an office that already does real estate in Michigan but that needs more recognition and/or marketing support. The office could then tap into Real Estate One’s network of resources. In fact, Real Estate One explains that independent real estate companies have a harder time than ever to remain competitive. By affiliating with Real Estate One, a franchise owner gets to stay in control of much of his or her business while using a large network of resources to level the playing field with regional and national brokers.
Ideal candidates should also embrace technology and have at least some knowledge of the Michigan/local community’s real estate market. In addition, they should be enthusiastic about continuing education and staying on top of industry trends.
